In July of 1972, my mom become pregnant. During her pregnancy, She developed German Measles (known as Rebella). The Doctors said that the baby could have a disability. When I was 2 1/2 years old, the doctors confirmed that I was deaf, not profoundly deaf, but hearing impaired.

When I was 5 years old, I went to a hearing school in my hometown. The teachers were unable to teach a deaf child, so I registered with the school for the deaf at Torbay Road in St.John's. I was 6 years old, at the time. I stayed at school from 1976-1987, learned sign language and learned how to talk very well... In 1987, we moved to our new school on Topsail Road in St.John's. It was beautiful school and the teachers and staffs was wonderful.

In 1993, I graduated from school for the deaf after 14 years. I was accepted for George Brown College in Toronto. Went there in August but had to return home due to sickness (asthma). My goal was photography. But suddenly, my dad died in January 1994. I decided to take course for carpentry. I wanted to follow in my dad's footsteps. My dad was a shipbuilder. In September 1994, I went to Amherst Vocational School for carpentry course. A year later that school closed. In 1995, moved to Halifax in N.S.C.C (Nova Scotia Community College). Mike Pierrer, my instructor was deaf as well but not profoundly deaf. He was great instructor. He taught me to work hard to succeed. In 1996, I graduated from N.S.C.C with my carpentry trade. Worked at Cabinetwork in Darthmouth. Later got laid off, I had to come home. A year later went to work with my Uncle Wilson in his shipyard (TWL Enterprises Ltd) and have been working for the pass year and half (June 1998 - December 1999). In Dec.1999, I was injured at the shipyard off work for year and a half. Returned back to Mount Pearl to live. Since Oct. 2002 Employed at Crown Woodworking Ltd. Making Kitchen Cabinets.
